Print Selection and Processing:

Producing a master print image is a painstaking process in the digital darkroom, it is often many hours of attention to detail and test printing to achieve the desired results before any image is placed in the gallery.  I prefer to use the term “tweaking” the image to acquire the best possible print.  What I’m doing is removing dust spots, correcting colors and adjusting the overall brightness to represent the scene as it was when the photo was taken.

Long gone is my traditional wet darkroom, today my prints are processed through a vast array of computer equipment, software and archival printers.  The most important aspect of photography is still the same; starting with a high quality negative or digital file. Medium and large format images are first converted to digital via a drum scan; this captures every bit of detail and sharpness off of the negative.  My scans are done by Danny Burk, a fine art photographer himself.

This raw image is then processed or “tweaked” on high a high end computer/monitor for exacting details before output to either an Epson 4800 or 9600 printer using the latest Ultrachrome ink set which boasts 100 year colorfastness when properly displayed.  For the paper I prefer a heavyweight, archival matte surface, unframed the image appears a bit flat but once it is behind glass this paper comes to life.  High gloss papers, in my opinion, produce too much glare when viewed through glass and distracts from the image.

The Mat and Frame:

If you order a matted or framed image from Expressions of Nature Photography your investment is processed with the same exacting standards in excellence.  All products used are acid free archival quality; other products are cheaper but will damage the photograph over time.  You have the choice of letting me create a mat and frame that enhances the piece of art or opting for a customary off white or black mat that fits well with any decor.

Caring for your purchase is very easy.  As with any art work, it should be displayed with minimal direct sunlight striking the piece as this will shorten the life span. High humidity should also be avoided; moisture can become trapped between the glass and print causing damage. Cleaning should be done with a soft cotton cloth, avoid using chemical based cleaners.

Print Sales:

All images in the galleries are available as fine art prints.  Common sizes and pricing are listed with each photograph. In most cases the print will also be available in larger sizes, inquire by calling or email me here.   Please note that large prints that are either matted or framed may not be safely shipped, in such cases having the image framed by a qualified local framer should be considered.  Please use the link above to contact me for shipping options and prices on these photographs.

Shipping & Handling:

In most cases orders should be shipped within 10-14 days after the order is placed, if I am on location this may be delayed by a few days. Un-mounted prints are placed in heavy tubes; matted or framed images are securely wrapped in bubble wrap and shipped boxed.  All items will normally be shipped by UPS or FedEx ground unless other arrangements are made.  Overseas shipments will be handled and priced accordingly, call or email for shipping charges.

Stock & Licensing:

Any image in the gallery may also be purchased for stock usage, rates and terms are based on an individual basis.  Email or call to discuss your needs so I can prepare a detailed quote. All images remain the property of Expressions of Nature and Rob Haman. The galleries contain but a small sampling of the nature photographs in my library of digital, medium and large format images; as the site grows a detailed listing of locations, scenes and species will be added for reference.
